WUD offers a modern, flexible and customer-friendly system of the construction of wooden buildings.
With our products and services, we adapt fully to your needs regarding the execution of construction and craftsmanship. It is up to you to decide on the final selection of contractors and materials. You can also do some of the work independently and adjust the timeline of construction according to the time and resources available.
The key to wooden constructions is the quality of the frame or construction of the house. The construction system we offer is one of the most technologically advanced systems – this guarantees you the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction.
The WUD d.o.o company most often carries out the project up to the “turnkey” phase. We come to an agreement with the investor at the initial stage according to the desired scope of the final implementation, or we can only handle certain stages.
At WUD we provide our clients with:
- preparation of appropriate project documentation for the construction of a CLT building
- static calculation of the structure and foundation board, blueprints and plans for the construction of a CLT wooden building
- production, delivery and properly certified installation of a wooden structure handled by our own professionally qualified installers
- delivery and installation of a wooden roof
- implementation and completion of the project at various stages of implementation
- construction work for the foundation slab
The advantages of the construction system of solid wood cross-laminated panels are as follows:
- Construction is quick and easy, as the elements are already very precisely manufactured in the factory
- Clean and quiet construction
- Dry construction
- The extraordinary mechanical properties of CLT panel construction (their strength gives architects endless possibilities for their own design)
- Fireproof construction
- Anti-seismic construction
- With massive wooden construction, there are no thermal bridges (only areas with less efficient thermal insulation)
- Extremely flat internal wall surfaces, which simplifies the process of drywall and facade works and facilitates the distribution of electrical and mechanical installations, as there is no need to worry about prior reinforcement
- CLT panel construction does not require an interior vapor barrier
- High quality of living (ability to regulate moisture, excellent protection from heat, easy maintenance of room temperature in winter, good sound insulation, no harmful adhesives)
- Thanks to the lightweight construction, an excessive foundation plate is not required
- Because the walls are thinner, the net floor area increases in size (for an additional cabinet or even a children’s room)
- Ecologically sustainable construction
In order to start construction in accordance with the agreed upon timeline, we need an established PZI plan and a legally valid building permit. When WUD is only supplying and installing the construction of your house, you need a pre-made foundation slab made in accordance with the exact instructions we provide during the implementation phase.
If you own a piece of land and would like to build your new home, but don’t know where to start, call us and we will help you get to the final goal, step by step. Supported by all our knowledge and many years of experience in the construction and supervision of various projects behind us, we will optimize the professionality, aesthetic and economical functionality of your ideas.
The basic warranty at the completion of the building in the turnkey phase is 10 years for construction elements, roof, roofing, facade…
All other elements are covered by the warranty for the installation materials provided by the supplier.
Upon the project’s completion, we issue a warranty of 26 months for any hidden defects.
A common association to the word wood is … fire.
But – solid wood panels or CLT panels are completely different in this respect! We are not solely comparing CLT panels with other prefabricated timber construction systems, they even beat the fire resistance of reinforced concrete and steel elements. People typically praise these two building elements without knowing that in the event of a fire, an AB panel will suffer explosive concrete fallout or even the complete destruction of the building. And steel completely loses most of its load-bearing properties at higher temperatures. Wood retains its static firmness even after prolonged fire exposure, completely turning this stereotype on its head!
Furthermore, although the CLT panel will burn on the surface, the fire only slowly advances into the interior to a maximum of a mere 2-3 centimeters. The outer layer is charred, reducing heat conduction and preventing contact with oxygen, which would lead to further combustion. Thus, the inner part or core of the structure remains undamaged and retains its load-bearing capacity.
With solid wood construction, we can achieve up to 120 minutes of fire resistance (or more with the addition of fireproof cladding), depending only on the thickness and layering of the installed CLT panels.
Building with a massive CLT panel construction is one of the most resistant systems in all earthquake-proof construction. Compared to the classic method of construction (brick-steel-concrete) and other methods of prefabricated timber construction, this system’s advantages lie in the noble combination of properties of a natural wood, which makes up for the entire composition of CLT panels, as well as the method of manufacturing CLT panels.
Wood is flexible, has a low intrinsic weight and exceptional physical properties, which allows the structure to react well in the event of an earthquake. Therefore, these buildings can withstand even the greatest seismic loads without significant damage. It’s no coincidence that most recent post-earthquake remediation has been carried out using CLT panels. All of the above also applies to the resistance to strong wind.
The moment you have all the documents required for construction, preparations can begin. When building with the CLT system, it takes roughly one month after the order to the completion of the factory production of all wall, ceiling and roof CLT elements. During this period, you have time to install the foundation slab and execute all other necessary preparations of the plot.
It takes only 4 days to install the CLT panel structure, while it takes a full 3 months to install a functionally “identical” brick and concrete structure!
NOTE: When estimating the time component in “classic” construction, constant traffic (workers, delivery trucks, pears with concrete, …), heavy dirt, supervision, possible annoyance of neighbors etc. were left out. This does not necessarily make for a longer time of implementation, but to you, it does begin to feel like everything is really dragging on.
A firm one! This adhesive is water-based and does not contain any formaldehyde or solvents. It is considered one of the most eco-friendly adhesives and is completely harmless to humans (it’s also commonly used in health care). The adhesive is odorless, and because only a very small amount (0.6%) is used, the CLT board can be considered equal to natural solid wood.
The sad truth is, there are more harmful adhesives and solvents in a piece of furniture in a children’s room than in the entire frame of a house constructed with our CLT panels!
Building “our way”, i.e., with the CLT system, is extremely fast and precise. This means that every element (walls, ceilings, roof) is manufactured according to precise blueprints with a CNC machine, which reduces the possibility of error to a minimum.
The excellent mechanical properties of individual CLT panels form a solid core in a connected system of walls, ceilings and roofs. The CLT system distributes weight significantly more evenly across the entire foundation plate and can easily overcome even greater seismic loads.
CLT panel construction is much more friendly both to humans and the environment.
No, you can also use wood fiber or blow-in cellulose insulation, but we usually recommend mineral wool for both contact and ventilated facades.
A wooden house doesn’t imply the appearance of a mountain hut. 95% of people go for dry-mounted treatment with plaster coating and a final treatment with dispersion paints.
Coniferous wood is the most commonly used basic raw material. It is technically dried to 12% (±2%) humidity, enabling the natural protection of the wood against pests such as fungi, insects and mold.
YES! You only need to update the PZI (execution plan) documentation and amend the PID (project of executed works) documentation that will be required to obtain the certificate of occupancy.
To bring awareness to environmental protection.
Wood is the only building material that only needs solar energy and water to form. In contrast to other building materials, cross-laminated timber doesn’t produce large amounts of greenhouse gases during production; trees even consume and store CO2 as they grow, so greenhouse gas indexes for wooden buildings are among the best. Since CLT buildings are easy to recycle, they don’t burden the environment in the long term. Instead, they’re simply a phase in the life cycle of wood.
The only limitation comes up when the future location of the house isn’t accessible with a truck with a HIAB lift. All other limitations exist only in the mind, be it the imagination of the architect designing the building, the fear of investors when faced with something different (although this construction technology is already well-recognized and highly valued worldwide), or the investor’s desire to see the building survive the collapse of civilization.
We really don’t know why … all we know is that prejudice still holds strong roots in people’s minds. Only persistent education, professional consulting and more and more homes built for satisfied owners every day will lead CLT construction technology to where it deserves to be – at the top!
